Company history

In 1984 a recovering alcoholic, Myron Wood, had a vision to open a treatment center that would help those who had problems with chemical dependency.  Specifically he focused on the area of alcohol related offenders and ex-offenders who were stuck in the legal system.  Mr. Wood was a very strong advocate in creating services for those that suffered from chemical addiction.

Several years earlier Mr. Wood began helping prisoners soon after his own recovery, which led to the founding of the first halfway house in the state of Illinois (House of Hope 1966). He was  instrumental in the development of Arch House and Madison County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency.

The Wood family has dedicated their lives to aiding alcoholics recovering from their sickness.

IOPC remains a family owned and operated business that still holds firm to its original values of helping those who suffer from chemical related problems and that each person be treated with equal opportunity for growth and change.

"I would like to thank Steve and Bryce for the very informative classes and their sincere devotion in trying to enlighten everyone on the use of alchol and the effects that it can have.  My first class I came to, I was not looking forward to it, but not once have I ever left with a bad attitude or without a more positive attitude in my future."

"The groups helped me wake up and I learned alot, especially how to be more responsible.  I didn't realize how deadly alcohol was in so many ways until hearing all the different stories.  Wes was very good at explaining how bad drinking is and until today I didn't know.  Now I'm better educated because of Wes."

"Wes made the classes interesting, which increased my ability to get more out of the classes."

"These classes helped me out in so many aspects of my life.  The counselors are amazing.  Since taking the classes my self confidence and lifestyle as a whole have greatly improved."

I really learned alot while taking these classes.”
